There are many ways you can be part of the Mildura Life Saving Club. From being an active patrolling member through to committee membership, Nippers, fundraising and event support.
The Mildura LSC Bush Nippers is a free water safety program for children 5-12 years old that is run every weekend in February. The program has been running at Apex Beach since 2017.
There are so many ways you can contribute to our club, if you are wanting to become a patrolling member our training page will provide you with all the information on how you can achieve this.
The Mildura Life Saving Club was established in the 1960s as part of the Royal Australian Lifesaving Society & has been keeping Mildura’s favourite swimming spot safe from harm ever since. In the 2000s, Mildura LSC transferred its registration to Life Saving Victoria, part of Life Saving Australia. This move means our Life Savers are part of a training organisation that ensures a national standard in life saving awards and equipment.
The Clubs membership has ebbed and flowed over the decades, but we currently sport a growing membership base of approximately 150 members, with 25 active patrolling members and 55 enrolled in our Bush Nippers. Our core focus is inland water safety with our life savers patrolling Apex beach from the last weekend in November through to the March Long weekend and again over the Easter long weekend. Over the past few years, we have grown from a single patrolling member to 30. We now have qualified Inflatable Rescue Boat teams, silver medallion patrol captains, bronze medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) holders. Our lifesavers range from 13 years old to mature age. They are highly trained and experienced with many also working as pool lifeguards and also attending training in coastal conditions.
The Mildura Life Saving Club is a volunteer organisation and relies heavily on the support and generosity of our community, both individuals and business owners.
If you are able to make a once-off or ongoing donation to the Mildura Life Saving Club we would be most grateful.
