There are so many ways you can contribute to our club, if you are wanting to become a patrolling member this page will provide you with all the information on how you can achieve this. Life Saving Victoria has a range of useful factsheets on all the lifesaver training available to members here.
If you want to know when our training courses are occurring please see our news and events page.
The first step to being a lifesaver is holding one of the required Awards. The Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) and the Bronze Medallion are the foundation awards for being a Life Saver and are great achievements that provide a nationally recognised training to patrol with any Life Saving Club within Australia. But these qualifications are only the beginning. With every patrol, we require 3 bronze patrollers plus one member with an award. The award can be first aid, advanced resuscitation, SRC or CPR. Additionally you can train to be an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Crewperson or Driver, ATV operator, Patrol Captain or Silver medallion.
For more information and to find out what training opportunities are available, contact your Patrol Captain or any senior member of the club for more info.
New training courses are scheduled all the time. To stay informed please check our news and events calendar regularly. If you are an active member, you will receive regular updates via our club internal communications.
Training Sessions: to stay current and focused, our members train all year round. Training may involve heading to the coast for a weekend to practice IRB rescues in surf conditions or running and swimming along the river to maintain fitness. If you are interested in coming along to training sessions please let the patrol captain know.
If you don’t want to be a patrolling member but would like to get involved with the club in other capacities there are a range of roles that might suit you. The
LSV pathways website has a range of roles from club management to Nippers and water safety officers. These are non-patrolling club roles but are crucially important to the running of the club. If you are interested please
contact the Club Captain or President for further information.
